Know More About Dental Implants

Dental implants are replacement, or substitute tooth roots, used to replace natural tooth roots in areas of the mouth where teeth are missing. Dental implants are fast becoming one of the best ways to replace lost or missing teeth. An implant (usually made of titanium) is placed into the bone beneath the gum tissue. The implant serves as a "root" onto which a tooth or teeth can be affixed. A tooth impant can be used to support either full dentures or single or multiple missing teeth. A periodontist usually places the implant. The implant site is allowed to heal for 4-6 months depending on the quality of bone the implant is placed into. After healing is complete the implant is restored cosmetically by Dr Reddy.

When a patient has a single missing tooth the most common treatment options are a conventional bridge or implant. A tooth implant has advantages like preserving adjacent tooth structure, bone preservation, cleansablity and esthetics. When a patient has multiple missing teeth implants have similar advantages over conventional bridges and partial dentures.

The use of dental implants is becoming routine in dentistry and is a conservative option compared to the alternatives.
